Over the year in Motor-Sports and different disciplines, we wanted something to challenge us, something different, bigger than us. Something which will make us run like a headless chicken!

We don't have a SuperHorse to show off next to our multi-million $ tent. But what we had was a Honda Civic from the last century, with a technology of Casio Power calculator. It's the Honda on which we progressed over the season, pocketed several wins, burnt hands, made friends at the track, took them for rides, worked late at night and broke our backs.

Time came where some couldn't believe that our Honda could do all this and more. So we had to lift our skirts for it to be checked by Autodrome whats beneath our track fighters. And guess what.... They had to pay through their nose for going under our skirts!

Despite all of the above, Team manager/owner; Mohammed Al Owais proudly took the champion of the year 2008 -2009 award at the awards night in 2009. YES! LAP57 was the wining team of the year with maximum number of wins and highest points in the championship.

2009 - 2010 race season, we continued with our United Arab Emirates National series, but this time, not one but with two track monsters, Car # 37 Umair and Car # 38 Omran, both having multiple wins in the series and now got bored from that and started racing each other! Don't really care about the championship points or wining it anymore! Been there done that!

Next! YES, Dubai 24 hours endurance race? Shall we or shall we not?

Got the spirit, got the team, got the blend and the talent ... but no $$$! Solution? Honda again! We brought the FD2, right hand drive from Japan, worked on it day in day out and made it to the track crawling. We raced to win, but were stupid to think we could.. But Yes we finished the 24 hours race.

Try doing that with top drivers from all over the world. That's the real game! Not showing off with same old same old! We shall try again 2011 and bring home first UAE 24 hour trophy.

What were the difficulties that faced you to prepare the car/team?

R.Mansour: As a young driving team, we lack a lot of know how, but that changed over the years. We are able to build and fine tune cars on the spot. Work under a load of pressure, and rectify issues immediately. I am glad that our preparation ended last night, or shall I say this morning 2:36am. Now I can enjoy looking at the car as it being polished and shine for the 15th Jan 2010 grid walk. But our mission does not end here, still, we start again tomorrow for practice and qualifying then race that will extend over 24hrs. This team will do great insha'Alla and makes me proud.



How do you feel joining up with Lap57 UAE Racing team?

S.Almuhairi: For me, as an Emarati, I would do anything to raise our UAE flag high up. Coming from many national & international races, joining Lap57 feels very professional and a great privilege to add in my racing career. The team had invested a lot of time and money too. So I feel very confident and going to give it my best.

What is you future vision/goal?

O.Al Owais: As you know that our Motor-Sport industry is growing rapidly. Dubai, Bahrain, Riyadh, Qatar, and recently Abu Dhabi F1 Yas Marina Circuit,  all have invested millions of $ in motor-sport to build race tracks. Unlike the Emarati UAE born drivers which are very few of us, I think thats next to invest in. We need to use these utilities for our advantage and promote the safe motor sport.  This year we are challenging the international drivers, next year I would love to race against home talent UAE drivers/teams.

How are you preparing for the race psychologically/mentally?

U.Khan: We had to build a trust within the team for the past several months. Each person knows their individual tasks. Personally, I'm very excited to see what we have reached today. Also, I am very confident of everyone ability. Our team - Lap57 UAE Racing Team, the mechanics & the drivers are all synced and 100% focused on what is our main objective. To Win!

What is you race Expectation?

M.Alowais: Dominat A2 Class, simple! Saw it last year, we are prepared today, and win it tomorrow.

How are you handling and managing the mechanics and the drivers for the Dunlop 24hr Dubai 2010 race weekend?

M.Albannai: A lot of effort and blessing from Allah, family and friends. Over the past few months, we had been building up our progress, and over the last week, we shifted to the final gear to bring this car to the starting grid on 13th Jan. The mechanic are spiritually ready that nothing could go wrong and the drivers are physically & mentally ready. We are expecting a lot of pressure from the international teams with many years of experience, but we know our cars and home track like the back of our hands. I am looking forward to see the car passing at 14:00 on 16th Jan 2010 under the checkered flag wining our category.

I was hoping to show you in details our 24hr Race car which we will be racing in 15th/16th Jan 2010. But we had changed our minds due to some political reasons. ;)

Anyway, what I can say that it looks mean, and an upgrade from our past history cars. We are very excited as the car is being tested, and final touches being applied. The car will create new challenges for the mechanics & drivers.

The car had been re-built in our tuning workshop in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. With the help from many international companies that looked into the mechanical and safety aspects, we feel very confident that we will see some great results this year.

Workshop mechanics and team consultant, looked at all the specs and made sure that we the car is within 2010 regulations. Another advantage the mechanics got is that they had to rebuild the car from scratch. Striped naked, painted and rewired. Engine and gear box was also fiddeld with to make sure that everything is brand new and clean. This will give the mechanics a better understanding of the car when things goes wrong!

The Drivers had been training for the past month with instructors to build some power and endurance for the challenge of 24hrs.

We are very excited and looking forward to present our UAE team in the best format for 2010 Dubai 24hr race that will take place between 13th & 16th Jan 2010 @ Dubai Autodrome.

Mohammed AlOwais, brought a nice trophy back home from Bahrain International Circuit, racing in the Chevrolet V8 Supercars series. Also, Mohammed Al Falasi did a great improvement over the weekend with his car, and pushed hard. Early in the race, one of the other cars took out M.Al Falasi out of the race.

Umair Khan had a great start, jumping from 5th place to 2nd place just in few laps to challenge O.AlOwais, In turn#1, the engine experienced a catastrophic failure. (Watch it to the end)

UAE National Race Day 3/4 Dec 2009 at Dubai Autodrome witnessed Omran AlOwais, Car #38 getting first place twice in his class 2 series (2.0L engine), after an amazing battle with his team mate Umair Khan #37, who was leading the Championship points, started the grid from last and pushed his way to 2nd place, untill the last lap of the first race before his front axel got damaged, and took the checkered flag from the pit lane coming 5th. ( Video below, sound issues!)

Race two, AlOwais had some suspension issues and heavey vibration from the wheels, but took the lead in class 2 from the first corner. In lap 4, Umair Khan, again, pushed himself from 5th to 2nd place, but on corner#1, he had a catastrophic engine failur. (Video above)

UAENRC - News/Update

Hala everyone!

So, we are online, Finally! Thanks to Shufflegazine for helping us with some HTMLing/Coding our website. The rest is up to us to fill it up with news, stories and behind the scens stuff.

In the next hour or so, I have some good news & bad news. I will start with the Good news, and end with the bad one, because that is what really happened in a chronological order for the past few weeks in the Motor racing World of Autodrome!.. and Bahrain International Race Track. Check back in few hours.
